Would you like to join the excavations at Chlorakas-Palloures as a student? Please see the information below!

We are always looking for talented students who are eager to work hard and learn lots. Please feel free to contact us for more information on how to join.

• The site
The site of Palloures comprises a Chalcolithic (3500-2500 BCE) settlement with round buildings containing features such as hearths, floors and grinding installations. Excavated deposits have yielded many ceramics, bones, and lithics, as well as fifteen human burials. During fieldwork, participating students are taught all aspects of excavating and documenting these features and artefacts.
• Conditions
Students are expected to perform physical labour under tough conditions. The climate is nearly tropical, hot and humid. We work 6 days a week, 10 hours a day. Our accommodation is anything but luxurious. We are therefore looking for highly motivated individuals who are eager to learn more about the prehistory of Cyprus. Costs include food and accommodation (approx. €75/week) and the flight. The season is scheduled between mid July and end of August 2021. If Covid-regulations allow us to proceed, the precise duration will be determined in May.
• Interested?
Please send your CV and letter of motivation before April 1st to Victor Klinkenberg: klinkenberg.victor@ucy.ac.cy
